It is believed that life will be better when we get married, when we have a baby and then another. Then we are frustrated because our children are not old enough and we believe that everything will be better when they are older. Then we are frustrated because they reach adolescence, and we must deal with them. We will be happy when they will be out of adolescence.
We tell ourselves that life will be better when our spouse will put on their own, when we will have a nicer car, when we can take vacations, when we will finally take our retirement. The truth is that the best time to be happy is now. If not, then when? Your life will always be full of challenges. It is better to admit it and decide to be happy anyway.
For a very long time, it seemed to me that life was beginning. Real life. But there were always obstacles along the way, a test to pass through, work to finish, time to give, a bill to pay. Then life could begin. I came to understand that these obstacles were life. This perspective has helped me to see that there is no path that leads to happiness. Happiness IS the path.
So enjoy every moment. Stop waiting for school to end, for school to begin, to lose 10 pounds, to gain 10 pounds, to go to work, to get married, Friday night, Sunday morning, a new car, that your mortgage is paid, spring, summer, autumn, winter, the 1st or 15th of each month, that they play your song on radio, to die... before to be happy.
Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
The best time to be happy is... Now.
So...
Work as if you don't need money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance llike nobody's watching you.
Love every drop of time given to you, smile. love life, love your life, love what you do.
Live and enjoy the present moment.
“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.” ~Denis Waitley
